PebbleBash 2012: Making the Case

If you travel a lot you’ll know that one city venue is much the same as another; and city hotels rarely live up to your expectations.

Shifnal is a stone’s throw from Pebble HQ and is a historic and rather quaint town littered with good eateries and even better pubs. It’s nestled in the glorious Shropshire countryside but with a direct train link to Birmingham and is minutes from the M54 motorway.

What we wanted above all else was a place where delegates would feel welcome and able to enjoy the opportunities for connecting and conversing with others. We didn’t want people to have to tube, bus or tram their way between accommodation and venue – we wanted to maximise the time for reflecting in an environment conducive to learning.

About the Park House Hotel

Originally two separate 17th century country houses set on the edge of the market town of Shifnal, The Park House Hotel is an elegant and luxurious building which combines modern amenities with traditional features. The Hotel is an ideal base for exploring the myriad of sights in and around Shropshire, including Cadbury’s World, the RAF Cosford Museum and the Historic Ironbridge Gorge with all its museums.

A recent visitor to Pebble Learning stayed at the Park House and had this to say:
"My stay at the Park House Hotel was fantastic. It was the nicest place I’ve ever stayed in the UK. It had spacious and plush rooms, excellent food, a lovely spa, and spectacular grounds. I look forward to returning to Shifnal and staying there again…" Melissa R. Peet, MSW PhD, Academic Director, Integrative Learning and ePortfolio Initiative, University of Michigan
